Q. What States are available under the Shield program?

Q. What is the recommended browser for our Rater to operate efficiently?
A. Google Chrome.
Q. I am unable to sign on to the online Rater or am having other technical difficulties.

Q. Do you have a contact list for the departments in your office?

Q. Do you offer admitted coverage as well as non-admitted?
A. Yes. And all of our partner carriers are A rated.
Q. What is my commission?

Q. Are your GL policies written on a claims made or occurrence form?
A. The policies we issue are written on a manuscript occurrence and/or ISO form.
Q. What is your typical GL submission turnaround time?
A. We aim for a turnaround time of 24 hours.
Q. Will Shield consider a paper contractor.
A. Yes.
Q. When will a resume be required to quote?
A. All new ventures with less than three years in business will require a resume.
Q. What if I need to revise the quote after iy has been approved?
A. Contact your underwriter or customer service to unlock the submission.
Q. I don’t see a class code for the applicant’s work performed?
A. Contact your underwriter and they will be happy to assist you in finding the appropriate class code.
Q. Where can I locate a specimen copy of the policy form?
A. Once logged on to the online Rater, a specimen copy of the applicable policy form will be available for your review on the Quote Summary.
Q. What do I need to send to bind coverage?
A. All required documents must be received prior to binding coverage. You may email them or simply upload them to the online Rater. The quote includes step-by-step instructions for what is needed to bind.
Q. How do I find out the reason a policy was cancelled?

Q. How does a policy get reinstated?
A. Contact an accounting representative via email at [email protected] or call 760.345.9029.
Q. On the GL program, do you offer a credit for insured subcontractor costs?
A. Yes. The credit given for insured subcontractor costs is unlimited but cannot exceed 50% of the total gross receipts.
Q. What is the turnaround time for endorsement requests?
A. We strive to respond to all inquiries within 24–48 hours.
Q. What is the pricing for the different endorsements offered?
A. Contact our Endorsement Department via email [email protected] or call 760.345.9029 and request an endorsement underwriter for endorsement pricing.
Q. Do you offer ISO forms CG 20 10 & CG 20 37?
A. We offer our Ongoing operations with primary non-contributory wording & completed operations standard manuscript additional insured endorsements as equivalents to the CG 20 10 & CG 20 37 forms. Our General Liability policies automatically include blanket AI Ongoing operations with primary non-contributory wording in our manuscript & ISO policy forms.
Completed operations coverage can be added at an additional premium. We suggest submitting our sample equivalent endorsements to the required Additional Insured to ensure they are accepted. If the Additional Insured rejects our equivalent forms, we can consider adding scheduled CG 20 10 04 13 & CG 20 37 04 13 forms for the project/contract prompting the request with currently valued prior carrier General Liability loss runs from the last 3 years.
Q. Do you offer AI endorsements on the excess policy?
A. We do not include blanket/scheduled AI endorsements in our excess policy form. The excess policy is follow form of the General Liability policy, where the blanket/scheduled AI endorsements are already included.
Q. What does “Holding Endorsement” mean?
A. This status indicates that we’ve either requested additional information from your agency or submitted a request to the carrier for approval, and we’re currently awaiting a response to move forward with your request.
Q. Do we offer a 30-Day NOC, and if so, what is the cost?
A. Yes, we offer our standard 30-day notice of cancellation endorsement at no additional premium. Please note, this endorsement does not include notice of material changes, reductions in coverage, non-renewal, or a 10-day notice for non-payment.
Q. Does the ISO policy offer the ISO CG Forms?
A. When ISO forms are selected, the policy form is converted to ISO; however, our ISO policy form does not automatically include ISO CG Additional Insured (AI) forms. Our Manuscript & ISO policy forms automatically include our manuscript Blanket AI ongoing operations, Blanket AI ongoing operations with primary non-contributory wording & Blanket AI Wavier of Subrogation endorsements. Manuscript blanket AI Completed Operations can be added at an additional premium. If our manuscript Blanket forms are rejected and a specific project/contract requires ISO CG AI Forms, we can consider adding forms CG 20 10 04 13, CG 20 37 04 13, CG 20 01 04 13 &/or CG 24 04 05 09 to satisfy the requirement. The carrier has a minimum underwriting requirement that the Insured must be in business for 3 years and able to produce currently valued general liability loss runs for the last 3 years to consider adding these forms. Please note, additional premium may apply for the addition of these forms.
Q. Are new venture Workers’ Comp acceptable?
A.Yes, we do require a resume for the owner, who must have a minimum of three (3) years prior management experience. (Not just experience in the field)
Q. Do you offer solar class for WC?
A. Yes, it falls under the roofing class and requires five (5) years loss runs.
Q. Can I add Workers’ Comp & Commercial Auto under Nationwide’s supported/unsupported excess policies?
A. No, the supported/unsupported excess will cover the underlying GL only.
Q. What is the typical Workers’ Comp quote turnaround time?
A. If the submission is complete (completed Acord 130, completed supplemental and four (4) full years of loss runs) we can turn it around within 24 hours. If the submission is missing documents or information, it will depend on when the agent sends us everything we need.
Q. Can Workers’ Comp premium be made in monthly payments?
A. Yes, on either billing plan selected. If they choose to be on the RPM Pay Go payroll reporting billing plan they can pay monthly. If they choose installment billing, they can be on a 10-pay installment billing plan, which consists of the 10% deposit and 9 remaining equal installments.
Q. Why is it necessary to conduct an audit upon the expiration of the policy?
A. Audits are required by the carrier and ensure that the proper amount of premium has been collected commensurate with the exposure.
Q. What is my commission on audit premium?
A. Your commission on audit premium is the same as long as it is not turned back for direct collection.
Q. How do I complete an audit with Zoom Audits?
A. Load “Rapid Shield” App on cellular device or PC and follow instructions. For paper audits, contact [email protected].
Q. How do I complete an audit with Zoom Audits if I do not want to complete it on the “Rapid Shield” App.
A. Access the audit form on our Insurance Rater. Search by policy number and open the tab “Claims, Audits, Inspections/Add New Audit” or visit our website homepage, under “Producer Tools” tab.
Q. Why am I getting an invoice for an audit that I never completed.
A. When an audit is deemed “Non-Compliant” from Zoom Audits, we bill 100% double-faced premium and give insured another opportunity to complete the pending audit.
Q. How do I satisfy a “Non-Compliant” audit
A. By completing the audit or paying the invoice amount.

Q. Why is it necessary to perform a telephonic inspection directly with the insured?
A. Personal inspections are necessary to ensure our records are correct and to protect the integrity of their policy. It is also a requirement of the carriers we represent.
Q. How do I submit a claim?
A. There are three ways to submit a claim: 1. Submit an Acord form to our claims department at [email protected]; 2. Request an Acord form from claims at [email protected], 3. Submit request online via the Insurance Rater under the Claims/Audits/Inspections tab and click the “Add new Claim” button.
Q. Who do I contact to obtain adjuster’s name and contact information for a submitted claim?
A. Contact our claims department at [email protected] and we can provide that information for you.
Q. How do I obtain a Loss Run?

Q. Where should I send the payments?
A. To pay electronically, go to our website homepage, and click the “Make a Payment” button on the top right side. There’s a 3.5% charge for credit card payment and a $3.00 flat fee for ACH payments. Once payment is made, you will receive an email confirmation. If sending a check by email, please include a completed Check Authorization form, found on our website, in the Forms section under the Producer Tools tab, and email to [email protected]. If sending check by mail, make payable to Shield Commercial Insurance Services, and send to Shield Commercial Insurance Services, 43725 Monterey Ave, Suite A, Palm Desert, CA 92260.
Q. What is the down payment due to Shield?
A. Please see the bottom right side of the invoice sent with the policy. The amount varies depending on the payment type selected.
Q. When is the down payment due?
A. Down payments are due within 10 days of the policy effective date.
Q. Do you provide financing?
A. Yes. Through our reduced down payment plan the insured is only required to pay 20% down of the entire policy cost. We allow all taxes and fees to be financed, other than the fees of the retail broker.
Q. Do you allow the retail brokers to arrange the financing?
A. Yes. The balance after down is due within 30 days of the policy effective date.
